Animals

Not that I can really make paintings of animals that well, but here are a few.

This was a pre canvass of a bird and flowers that I picked up at the $ store.  I thought I really did well with the flowers, as you can see in this close up.

I tried a new trick a while ago, I got an wood owl and glued it to a canvass, then did a paint pour.  This was the results:

At the old art class I did these others as last minutes.  Funny how last minute ones turn out not bad, kinda cute:

Are they snails?

Although this is a close up, it's one of my favorites to paint on - little, tiny canvasses.  Something about them that causes joy for me to paint on.  They are so tiny!  ha ha ha.  And then a quick little ladybug appeared.....

Below is one of those art pours.  What made it interesting, and I don't know if you can see it, but when I finished it, it looked like an Arctic scene - with a polar bear in it and a tern.  The polar bear is the top squiggly lines, the bird is lower.  I think the bird is more visual in the photo tho.

This one was a funny attempt!  I started off with a completely different plan, but my colours weren't working.  I wanted an autumn scene with the animals.  I had winter sky, summer grass and  autumn trees.  After a few days of touching and repainting over and over I finally got somewhat of a proper background.  Yup, I used stick on animals to finish off!  I knew there was no way I'd be able to paint those in.  😺

Art Nights

Big thing out there lately is Paint Nite.  Cost is usually around $45-50.  And a lot of them are all about drinking, eating and painting.  Considering I don't drink, not interested in eating when I'm painting..... that leaves painting that takes a while to get to.  Boredom!

In the previous town just before we left I decided to go to a paint nite that was at a cafe where we would go for coffee.  At least they weren't going to be pushing booze.  Weeks later I went.  Originally it was to be a painting with elephants.  I'm not big on elephants, so I asked for something different.... yup, no problem.  I decided on a jaguar.  I like cats.  It was all good.

I listened to the instructions.  My round sun...was to put it bluntly, sucking big time.  Half way thru the session my canvass was soaked with colours.  Teacher (?) was trying to help me but it wasn't working.  She said to let it dry a bit then work on it.  I went to the washroom and breathed.  I was so stressed and upset that I couldn't do it.  I looked in the mirror....said screw it, do it your way.  Went out, wiped the canvass, turned it sideways (was long up), continued to wipe ..... and started seeing the sun.  It wasn't round, it was a sunset.  Everyone at this point was on making their elephants.

I suddenly started working fast, added colour, just whipped what I was doing, allowing my artist to come out and fix it.  I liked the red sunset.  I felt it was done, and then created the tree and jaguar.  I was on my own.  I continued.  Then I did the last bits of bush etc.  And ..

TADA.....

I loved it!

I was so pleased with my painting.  Finally it worked out.  Everyone started looking at my painting and were stunned. The teacher was impressed, she said later she was worried about me and my painting as it wasn't working.  She really liked how it came out.  Ah, stress level came down.  Happy and pleased.   And thought I'm never doing this again!!!!

And again I did it.

Maureen was going to paint nites, and asked if I wanted to come to one that was here in our new town.  I thought about it, wanted someone to paint with, AJ encouraged me to go.  So I did.

They were really into drinking and eating.  Almost 2 hours later we finally got to painting.  I was content with the winter fox, and wanted to do this one.  I could feel the stress coming as the teacher taught and I couldn't get it.  I remembered the last one, and backed myself off to allow myself to paint more on how I felt, but still follow.  It was different then the other class.

I found I wasn't impressed with the fox as it looked off.  She said no, this was the way it was to look.  It's a cartoon fox.  Eh.  At the end I was pleased with my painting.  Maureen told me later she fixed her fox at home.  I didn't care for this teacher, but the painting is good.

Will I do it again?  This time yes.  But I'm looking at an art class that's in the next town which is run by an Artist / Teacher.  I talked with him and there's more of a specific painting that I'm interested in doing, more abstract.  Will one day do a class with him.

As far as paint nites..... maybe again one night.

Moon Light

It's the moon light.  I like moon paintings.  There's something about them that draws me (or paints me ha ha ha).

Not sure if this one is exactly a moon painting, but it fits in with them.  Just before class (in the old town) was finishing, I still had a bit of time and was just blue painting this little canvass over and over.  It was almost dry and I thought ok now what.  I did a swirl and bang.  I looked, the other woman looked.  We looked at each other.  I said I think it's done.  She agreed.  It was surprising as I had just did the swirl and it was finished.

This moon is one of the paintings I did about 2 weeks ago.  I tried to photograph it with the sparkles in it and you can see a bit of them.  It sparkles thru out.  It turned out well.  Hung it in the living room so I can look at it.

A while ago I had noticed this photo via emails and liked it.  I printed it off and thought it would look neat in this slim wood frame.  I had done it as a podge.  Painted the wood black.  Simple.  Podging is ok, but a bit boring for me.  I did make a podge out of a photo my sis sent me of my mom and sis's boys - made it for mom as a Christmas present.  She liked it.  (it was the boys and her, of course she liked it!)  Don't have a photo of that one - sorry.

Washroom Canvases

These are little cuties that I did.  The tree and birds is actually the very first painting I did at the old place when I was going to art class.  I use to do a lot of wax art and one day after months and months of wax art I was finished and wanted to do something different.  I looked then kinda started the painting.  I find it amusing.

The puppy fence turned out adorable.  There's something simply cute about it.  It's light, simple and yes, child like, but still.  As with others, in real they look so much better.

When we moved into this house, I ended up getting the washroom downstairs.  It was grey and black stone tiles.  Not very girly for me.  So after much deciding, we/I realized pink would work with the grey.  I didn't care for a pink washroom, but it works, so I'm good with it.  I also had a picture I had bought from K-Mart (if one remembers that store, that's how old this picture is!)  I like it, it's a forest/waterfall scene, in light pink/pastel colour.  I put that up in the washroom, and knew I needed something for the other wall.  At first I was going to buy another picture, and then thought no, I'll paint one...or three.

Which I did.

This was kinda the start of painting here at this house.  I painted three with the colours of pink, black and white.  Wasn't sure what to paint.  I did the stars, then the line, then the circle.  I had seen the line a bit in my mind originally.

As I hung them up I wondered why they belonged together.  What did it mean?  Over a few days I figured it out.  The Stars are the answer.  That's what it's about.  1.  Is how the stars see each other.  2.  (line) Is how we see the stars.   3.  Is how they see out of themselves.  Understand them?

One day my photographic talent will improve.... I hope!!!!  ha ha ha

In the Glasses

I found three unique glasses at the Goodwill one day a few months ago.  I decided to make little landscapes.

Winter one, Castle one, and Tree/waterfall one.  Unfortunately the winter one got caught in a Princess storm.  My cat, Princess, was playing with her toys one night and hit them.  I got a glass from $ store and put the top in.  It wasn't damaged, just the stem was.  I had tried to glue it together, but no luck.

And then I moved them to a safer place!!  ha ha ha

Flowers

I like to design flower pots once in a while.  It's easier sometimes to have designed flowers instead of real flowers as with real ones, they grow.  And then they need a bigger pot etc.  Watering plants is a gamble at times too - too  much, too little, too often, not often enough...  ah.

This is an old one that I've had for years.  Created it for the washroom originally, but it's moved around over the years. Yup, those leaves on the edge there are real.

This one has a red bird in it.  Use to have two, but I moved one of the birds.  It also use to be a hanging basket design that ended up in a pot.

I love this one!  It turned out so well.  It looks so real.  And it's not.  It delights me every time I walk by it.  One of my latest ones.

Simply a cute collection of flowers.

Adding to the Collection

Here are a few that I got good photos of yesterday.

The above are all paint pours.  First is left over colours from previous pours.  Second is my very first attempt at doing a paint pour.  And third is one I did a few days ago from left overs again.  Thought that turned out well.

This one - or these ones - I use to live in Barrie, Ontario and I went to an art class every week.  So enjoyed going.  Miss it - there's nothing around here like that group.  It was fun.  As time went on I got into doing more brush painting and the results.... above.  I'm really proud of the birch tree one.  It was funny, I was bored, not knowing what to paint, and just kept adding paint on a little canvas, and then this started coming out.  I thought it needed a tree, so the birch came - best one I've ever done!  The other side is grasses, tho it looks like rocks.

I think the very tiny one is cute.  Again a last minute toss paint on one.

The black and white ..... kinda planned that one, tho the person was a surprise.  I like it!

Pink on Black

Still working at this blog to get it in order.  I wish I knew someone who could help me fix them so they work great.  In the meantime, let's post more paintings!

And one more

Not too overly thrilled with this one.  Very plain.

Ta

Weclome!

Welcome to my new blog site.  This blog is basically going to be about creations that I have done.  Currently a lot of what hobbies I've been doing is painting.  I've done some flowers, but mostly I paint.  In the summer it's the garden that brings me joy and ideas.

A lot of what will be here is more of what I have done, and not so much writing.  Mostly because I like to let my art do the talking!!!! ha ha ha

I hope you enjoy them.

Let's start:  Here is some of my paintings.  It's going to take me a bit to get the rest posted.  I just wanted to at least get this started.

In that last one is a girl reaching up to the dragonfly.  She is within the red, but if you look she is also the red one.  When I first saw the painting done, I thought the red was Jesus, and in Him was the girl.  But later looking at it dried, and now photographed, it looks like 'Jesus' is the girl instead.  If you look closely and can see you will find the original girl.  I like the idea that the girl is in Jesus too.

Ta!
